Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and to improve functioning. This is done by inserting needles and applying heat or electrical stimulation at very precise acupuncture points.
The modern scientific explanation is that needling the acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will either change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body's own internal regulating system. The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body's natural healing abilities, and in promoting physical and emotional well-being.
Traditional Oriental Medicine is a complete medical science based in physiological functionality. This comprehensive system boasts its own diagnostic techniques and treatment modalities which include acupuncture and herbal prescriptions. The cornerstone of Traditional Oriental Medicine is Oriental herbology, which has been continually practiced and documented for over 2,500 years. It is one of the most sophisticated clinical systems in the world in terms of analyzing patterns of ill health and successfully resolving problems.
Unlike Western herbology, which promotes single herbs with singular benefits, Oriental herbology uses herbs in concert to treat multiple disorders at the same time. Our pharmacy contains many proprietary herbal formulas designed to tonify the human body and increase vitality. Herbs can be very powerful, but to be effective they must be prescribed based on a proper diagnosis and administered on an individual basis.
Acupuncture Cupping Sets are made from either a hard durable plastic or heavy thick glass. Both come in a variety of sizes to accommodate the area being treated. Glass cupping sets are traditionally used in acupuncture cupping.
Cupping has the function of warming and promoting the flow of qi and blood in the meridians, dispelling cold dampness, diminishing swelling and pain. The acupuncture cupping method is mainly used to treat bi syndrome caused by wind dampness such as pain in the back, shoulders, hips and legs. Gastrointestinal disorders like stomachache, vomiting or diarrhea. Also respiratory symptoms related to congestion, coughing and asthma.
Electroacupuncture is one of the many contemporary treatment tools derived from Traditional Oriental Medicine that is available to today’s acupuncturist. Used with or without acupuncture needles, electroacupuncture involves the application of small pulsating electrical currents at specific target acupuncture points on the body in order to stimulate muscles and nerves more efficiently.
During electroacupuncture treatment the same target points are stimulated as in traditional acupuncture procedures (except in instances where electroacupuncture is used in conjunction with Dry Needling), needles are still inserted at specific target points along the body’s meridians. But in electroacupuncture, two needles are employed at the same time in order to pass the electrical impulse from one needle to the other, (usually stimulating several pairs of needles is possible for no longer than thirty (30) minutes at a time. The frequency and intensity of these impulses are adjusted depending on the particular condition.
Several health problems can benefit from the help of electroacupuncture. This procedure is frequently used to treat pain disorders, but it has many other advantages as well, including providing results with Sports Injuries, Asthma, Viral Infections, Depression, Paralysis, Eczema, Cancer, Kidney Stones, and many more Chronic Pain conditions.
Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials called "moxa" are burned on or very near the surface of the skin. The intention is to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences. Moxa is usually made from the dried leafy material of Chinese mugwort (Artemesia argyi or A.vlugaris), but it can be made of other substances as well.
It is burned directly or indirectly over the acupuncture point or placed on the top of an acupuncture needle. This allows the acupuncture point to be warmed without harming the skin. A moxa stick may be sent home with a patient along with instructions for continued self care.
Moxibustion is used for: Pain due to injury or arthritis, especially in "cold" patterns where the pain naturally feels better with the application of heat, digestive problems and irregular elimination, gynecological and obstetrical conditions, including breech presentation in late term pregnancy, protection against cold and flu strains.
Tui Na Therapy Tui Na is an ancient form of Oriental physical therapy approximately 2000 years old using traction, massage and manipulation in conjunction with the stimulation of acupressure points. It provides stress relief and treats, or complements the treatment of, many conditions including musculoskeletal disorders and chronic stress-related disorders of the digestive, respiratory, and reproductive systems.
